What Will Higher Education Look Like in 2021?

While President-elect Biden is promoting new funding to support colleges, the uncertainties of Covid-19 are still substantial. Will Title IX guidelines be rolled back? Will the rhetoric about political correctness on campus change? Will small Catholic colleges continue to close?

Again, we don't know yet.

This past week was slightly calmer than the previous one. I know- the bar was pretty low. Still, students are coming back to campus in more universities than in the Fall. Office Hours from CCMA is returning on January 20th (you can register here) and we have some terrific guests.

We know that our campuses depend on us to be the heartbeat of spiritual life.

  • We know that God is at work in profound ways in our students.

  • We know that Catholic campus ministry "works", especially when it's done well.

In this way, while we can't read every marker of what higher education will look like in 2021, we still know quite a bit. And, thankfully, that's enough to know.
