Service & Justice Innovation Hub
Rooted in Catholic faith, service and justice are essential to evangelization, revealing the Gospel’s transformative power through concrete acts of love. In Catholic campus ministry, these efforts form conscience, foster empathy, strengthen Catholic identity, build community, and inspire lifelong commitment to service and leadership.
Yet many campus ministries face a persistent challenge: students often experience deep personal spirituality without a corresponding engagement in meaningful service or social justice. This disconnect reveals a gap between faith formation and lived discipleship. CCMA seeks to bridge this divide, ensuring faith leads to action, and service deepens faith.
To address this need, the Catholic Campus Ministry Association (CCMA) will engage three campus ministries each year in a formational innovation think-tank focused on revitalizing service and justice. Selected campuses will receive $5,000 for one year to pilot new approaches and share best practices with the wider Church.
Applications will be available again in Spring 27.

CCMA is proud to announce the inaugural recipients of the 2026–2027 Service & Justice Innovation Grant
Three campus ministries selected to pioneer new models of service and justice as expressions of evangelization. Congratulations to the Catholic Student Center at Washington University in St. Louis, St. Paul Catholic Center at Indiana University, and the University of St. Thomas! Made possible through the partnership of the University of Notre Dame, the McGrath Institute for Church Life, and Lilly Endowment Inc., this cohort will launch together at CALLED26 and spend the year building something that belongs to the whole field.
Ongoing Formation
At a moment when the Church is being called to witness more clearly to the Gospel through encounter, accompaniment, and solidarity, CCMA invites campus ministers and student leaders into a two-part spring formation series centered on belonging, hope, and moral courage. These conversations ground service and justice not in activity alone, but in relationships that affirm dignity, restore hope, and embody the heart of Christ.
