The Fall Symposium features one keynote and seven workshops, each provided by a Catholic professional. This year’s speakers include:

1. “Preaching the Gospel on Campus: Ways that Work”: Deacons and Priests know the challenge of preaching on campus. Learn how to prepare your message and deliver it with consistency and passion in a way that students will remember. (Fr. Patrick Hyde, OP)

2. “Small Groups Led Simply”: Whether you are leading a Bible study, leading Lectio Diving or a small faith-sharing community, skilled facilitation is at a premium. Learn the do’s and don’ts of effective small group facilitation. (Helena Dziadowicz)

3. “Marketing your Ministry: Sending Your Message Further and Faster”: from social media to print materials and signage, website, email marketing, you’ll walk away with practical strategies for better marketing on campus and within your Diocesan structure. (Sherry Hayes-Peirce)

4. “Focus on Feedback”: your direct reports rely on your honest and consistent feedback but how do you do that in an authentically helpful way? You’ll learn how to give feedback to both volunteers and staff in a way that improves future behavior. (Jamie Cappetta)

5. “Become a Better Writer”: Improving your communication skills through better writing techniques can make your message clear and understandable. In this workshop we will explore best practices for improving written communication. Included in our conversation will be dialogue around how to help students in their writing and presentations during retreats and immersion experiences. (Elliott Gualtiere)

6. “Pastoral Universitaria: Attending the Needs of Latino Students on Campus”: Exploring the challenge and the promise of a growing Latino student presence on campus. Why is it crucial that we respond to their needs? Which practices and engagements can help in the process? Why is a pastoral de conjunto important as we work Latinamente? (Marta Pereira)

7. “Pro-Life on Campus”: in a Post-Roe era, precise and compassionate speech about abortion is vital. Learn about the latest issues related to life, policies that are trending and how your role in campus ministry can become a bridge for a student back to the Church. (Montsey Alvarado)
